Skedle is an all-in-one tool for organisations looking to manage HR and planning more efficiently. From documents and feedback to time tracking and task allocation, everything runs through one central platform. Skedle's ambition? To be a driving force behind flexible work, particularly in sectors where it’s needed most: hospitality, healthcare and retail.

An internal tool with market potential

Skedle originated at hospitality company Silver Tie. They built a tool designed to streamline planning and optimise operational processes. What started as an internal solution for an ambitious business quickly developed into a promising product with its own market potential.

But a successful internal tool doesn’t automatically make a scalable platform. The first steps towards a broader market immediately raised strategic questions:

  • How do we make the platform multi-tenant, configurable and scalable?
  • How do you translate an operational tool into a clear product structure with growth potential?
  • Which technical choices create a robust foundation for cross-sector use?

These were questions we were more than happy to explore together with the Skedle team! Our strategic CTO designed a detailed roadmap to prepare Skedle for the wider application market.

CTO-as-a-service brought scale, structure and impact

The ambitions were clear: scaling up, cross-sector applicability and greater autonomy in development.

Our CTO team began with in-depth team and stakeholder interviews, alongside a thorough audit of the existing tool architecture. The focus was on:

  • Defining a modular product structure
  • Seamless support for sector- and region-specific regulations
  • Reducing reliance on external implementation partners
  • Creating a stable foundation for future features

We captured and refined the product vision, translating it into a technology-independent concept architecture focused on sustainable growth and agility. We then assessed to what extent the existing platform and team could evolve towards this vision. We also mapped out what exactly was needed: in terms of budget, required functions and expertise within the team, and through a clear roadmap. This allowed Skedle to quickly see what was achievable in line with their ambitions.

From vision to concrete architecture

Once everyone was aligned, we made the plan of action more tangible: translating the concept architecture into a technical architecture, including the selection and rationale of the tech stack. The new tool architecture is structured around clear modules such as planning, contract management, payroll and compliance. The final system will be able to serve multiple clients simultaneously and can be easily adapted for different types of users.

With the vision, architecture and next steps clearly defined, the existing platform naturally still needs to be adapted. Throughout the entire process, Unikoo remains on board as a strategic sounding board.
