Unikoo Wrapped 2025: About tipping points, ‘leaps of faith’ and strategic choices

2025 was a year with many faces. Unikoo became stronger, better, and got people talking. But the year also brought its share of challenges. Our founder and CEO looks back on 2025: how strategy makes the difference, and why ‘leaps of faith’ need to fit within a well-considered strategic framework.

The Belgian and Flemish market is full of small organisations and SMEs that, in an increasingly complex world, seek accessible, pragmatic and affordable support across various areas of expertise. Thanks to the unique nature of our model, with end-to-end support and advice for growth companies, Unikoo is the partner that meets these needs. There is no one like us.

And this shows in growth. We grew with over 35% in terms of revenue (x5 over the last five years), into a talented team of 55 people across four teams and three regions. Nearly 130 clients rely, to a greater or lesser extent, on our support structure for start-ups, scale-ups, and SMEs, across Finance, Office Operations and HR, Marketing, and Technology.

That’s why 2025 was (again) a tipping point. The approach, philosophy, people and processes that brought us to a certain level don't guarantee success in the next phase. A tipping point forces you to make choices. Choices that may start from a gut feeling, but at this stage also require a well-founded strategic vision. Difficult choices that can be painful, but turn out to be the right ones. Or choices that seem easy, yet hurt even more when expectations are not met. Making choices means owning up to the consequences, good or bad. Entrepreneurship is a constant balancing act between intuition and reason.

2025 was no walk in the park. Not everything we touched turned to gold, and the growing pains were tangible. But at the same time, we evolved to a new level of service and organisation.

In many ways, we are now, more than ever, our own ideal client. A team in full growth, aware that yesterday’s success formula is not automatically the key to tomorrow. This realisation led us to a clear approach. We didn’t choose less speed; we chose more control.

In the first half of 2025, we were running on autopilot. Profitable and stable. The tipping point became clear after the summer, after taking a few of bold decisions. That’s why the second half of 2025 was resolutely focused on robustness. To make our internal organisation as strong as our ambition, so that our people can keep doing what they do best: helping our clients grow.

1. Our people and their expertise: the engine behind Unikoo

We are proud of our portfolio of impactful clients and our talented team that serves these organisations. But that also brings responsibility. In a diverse team growing as fast as ours, consistency is crucial. Quality cannot be a lucky shot; it must be a certainty, embedded in the way we work. And that is one of our successes of 2025. We elevated the expertise in our finance team to a new level, achieved quality and consistency within Office Operations & HR, strengthened our position in technology through a range of innovative projects, and significantly expanded our marketing expertise.

From our unique ‘Team-as-a-Service’ model to project work, our services are, first and foremost, about people. About experts who take the time to listen and truly understand, not just to respond.
To safeguard that human touch as we grow, we continued to invest in our talent strategy. From recruitment processes, further optimisation of our compensation policy and performance management, to providing the right support for ongoing talent development.

Skills management, knowledge sharing and a ‘chapter’ model
We have built a horizontal collaboration structure that ensures expertise and best practices are systematically shared. In this way, clients also gain indirect access to the collective experience of the entire team. Together, we raise the bar.

Empowerment through AI
Through our own platform we unlock collective knowledge using shared knowledge bases and custom features. We also offer access to AI models in an environment that strictly protects client data. The goal? Streamlining repetitive work to create space for what truly matters: creative solutions, critical thinking and personal contact. Technology becomes the lever, while empathy remains our strength.

2. Broadening and deepening: tailored support where it matters

We apply that same sharp focus on quality to how we approach the market. Our clients are looking for a partner that can unburden them broadly, while also seeking hands-on solutions in specific domains that they can put to work themselves.

That’s why we continued to expand our ecosystem. Alongside our innovation studio Studio Fledge, we launched Markomatic in 2025: custom AI systems (agents & workflows) specifically for marketing teams. This allows us to provide depth in a niche, while the Unikoo “mothership” continues to guarantee broad support.

We also faced an important choice regarding our local presence. In the Ghent region, 2025 unfolded differently than we had planned on paper. Unexpected developments forced us to take a hard look in the mirror. They confronted us with a classic entrepreneurial dilemma: do you wait until growth justifies the investment, or do you invest precisely to make growth possible? We chose to move forward. With the opening of our new, larger office at Dok Noord, we are dropping a strategic anchor. A place to be geographically closer to clients, and a warm home base where our teams can inspire one another.

3. Growing with intent: community as a foundation

We are now approaching our own growth differently. In 2025, we launched initiatives such as our breakfast session ‘Rise & Shine’, our after-work session ‘Sips & Talks’, our partnership with Peak Coaching around the VONK entrepreneurship event, our stand at the VOKA Bedrijvencontactdagen, and our involvement in the ‘AI for Marketeers’ event. Today, we are taking the wheel even more firmly in hand. We are consciously choosing to anchor ourselves more deeply in the community of start-ups, scale-ups and SMEs.

To play that role externally, we had to break down walls internally. Marketing and Customer Experience no longer operate in silos, but as one organism across teams. They listen to what is truly happening in the market and translate that into sustainable connections. Structurally, across the various service lines, so that our clients can use the full breadth of our model as a lever. In this way, we don’t just grow ourselves; we strengthen the network of everyone who works with us.

Because ultimately, that is what makes Unikoo unique: knowing that you are never on your own.

A long-term partner in growth

Looking back on a year of trial and error, what we see most clearly is progress and the confirmation of our mission: long-term support for growth companies. Our role and the collaboration model may evolve over the course of a partnership, but we do not get “outgrown”. We grow with our clients. Our model is not a sum of isolated services, but a flexible, integrated partnership that adapts to the changing needs, dynamics and growth stages of our clients.

Where 2025 was about laying the foundation for Unikoo’s next phase, 2026 is all about execution power. It will be the year in which we fully capitalise on that foundation. To continue strengthening businesses in a robust and high-quality way across Finance, Office Operations & HR, Marketing and Tech. So that the focus remains where it truly belongs: on entrepreneurship.

To everyone who supports us: thank you for your trust, the lessons and the partnerships.
