Unikoo wrapped: our year in the spotlight

From strong growth to the confessional

A turn of the year is usually accompanied by taking stock. And admittedly, in 2023, we achieved a lot of results to say 'U' to. This is how we ended a turnover of 3.5 million euros, we expanded our talented team to 40 employees, we professionalized our internal organization by focusing on office and operations management, and supported companies in about 150 assignments and projects. Results that we are all rightly proud of.

That hard work over the past few months has been well rewarded. In June, for example, we all went to Le Pradet, an idyllic spot in the south of France, for a legendary workation. In addition, we pamper our employees with us in November annual weekend in Francorchamps, complete with a tough tour of mountain biking, a fun gin walk and a real Unikuiz with a silent disco party.

Our employees are the beating heart of our organization. That is why they deserve the best care, so that they can optimally support our customers. Since last year, we have been offering wellbeing coaching on, ranging from mental resilience and exercise coaching to sleep coaching and digital detox. In addition, as part of the employment deal, a training plan out for all employees, tailored to both the individual knowledge gaps and the needs of our organization.

We believe it is important to do our part for a more sustainable future. That's why in 2023, we worked intensively on the greening our fleet. We did this by replacing the current cars with hybrid or electric vehicles. We will continue these efforts in 2024.

With a significant expansion of our team in Limburg a new and, above all, more spacious office could not be missed. That's why we searched and found a brand new paradise in a renovated church in Lummen. From having lunch in the company of Jesus and the Apostles, meeting in the Sistine Chapel to taking a moment to reflect in the confessional... there is no shortage of biblical scenes!

The highlights from our service lines

👉 Marketing & design

2023 meant a year of stability for our marketing & design service line. The team grew to 14 marketers and we strengthened our long-term collaborations with various customers. In addition, many (new) customers came to us for a completely new brand and we helped others develop and implement impactful marketing and communication strategies.

In addition, at the beginning of 2023, we found a missing piece for our puzzle thanks to theHiPPO integration. Together with the Hippo team, we have shown over the past year that combined expertise, diverse talents and a shared passion mean even more success. Explore here all our heroes.

👉 Development

Our development team has expanded over the past year, including Tom Celis, our new Head of Technology. And the future also looks bright. For example, we will soon launch a CTO-as-a-service offering, but more about that later!

As a business-IT partner, we want to introduce the business world to the Generative AI capabilities. Because although Generative AI goes far beyond ChatGPT, companies are not always able to translate this into concrete applications. Thanks to our expertise in technology, strategy and innovation, we at Unikoo can help companies find the right strategic use cases, customized solutions and, above all, a sustainable way to create maximum competitive advantage using Generative AI.

For several years, we have been working with VRT Innovation and we help build innovative new products, such as the Mediadigest project where Generative AI is used to shape future reporting and De Warmste Week, where live captioning was provided using AI. In addition, we participated in the customer portal of Bolt Energy and on a platform for flexible remuneration at Payflip. More and more companies are opting for our flexible model of tteam as a service, where we can flexibly use expertise within in-house teams.

For eight weeks, we received reinforcement of Arthur & Danté, two students of Applied Computer Science at the Karel de Grote University. In this way, we would also like to thank them again and wish them success with all the professional challenges they will face. Good luck boys!

👉 Finance & administration

Whether our finance & admin team is ready to grow? Yes sir! Over the past year, we have optimized the operation of this service line and further designed the team from various areas of expertise and talents. Along with five new colleagues we are ready to further support our customers in 2024 and this offer also in Limburg to put it further on the map.

In 2023, with the arrival of a new HR consultant, our HR team took the first steps towards the further expansion of this service line. As a result, customers can rely on Unikoo for various HR activities. Whether you're looking for payroll, compensation & benefits or recruitment support, or you need an HR consultant to help you design HR processes. Ask us anything!

Over the past year, many customers such as Wouters & Hendrix, Unifly, Jeco and iFLUX count on us for their HR and talent management! We also worked on a HR Maturity scan where we can estimate how far growing companies are in terms of their HR policy.

In short, 2023 was for Unikoo again a year of growth. This in terms of turnover, number of employees and our services. Deploying new services, entering into strategic partnerships and the further development of our existing service lines allow us to take even better care of our customers in 2024. We are already looking forward to what 2024 has in store for us, together with you!
